Family Science Time

Join the Environmental Science Center for our drop-in family science time. Each session features a different STEM topic with hands-on activities and crafts to keep your kids learning all year long! Stop by during any part of our event time to be a part of the fun. These programs are open to all ages, but best recommended for families with scientists grades K-5.

Gardening Science Class
- Newspaper pots: Create a mini pot out of newspaper and plant seeds in it. Teens are welcome to take home their plants or leave them with me to care for. The plants that are left with me, we plan to plant these in the raised garden in May.
- Plant Life Cycle Wheel: Folks will learn about the different stages of a plant by creating a plant life cycle wheel.
- Compost Exploration: Look and identify different decomposers in a compost pile! We’ll also have digital microscopes for folks to look at the soil and decomposers more closely too.
- Gardening: Folks will have a chance to plant a variety of vegetables in the raised garden beds at Family First Community Center! Gardening tools will be provided.
