Each session features a different STEM topic with hands-on activities and crafts to keep your kids learning all year long! Stop by during any part of our event time to be a part of the fun. These programs are open to all ages\, but best recommended for families with scientists grades K-5. \nApril 18: Earth Day Celebration! \nActivities include: \n\nSeed Bombs: Create a ball of seeds out of soil and paper to throw in your garden or hard-to-reach spaces that need more plant coverage. The seeds that will be used are native to Washington which will attract our local pollinators!\nWorm Exploration: Learn about the different types of soil in our world and the importance of composting. You’ll also get a close look at nature’s wiggly decomposer!\nTrashy Timeline: Test your knowledge on how long it takes for different kinds of trash takes to decompose in our world\nDesign A Climate Solution: Draw or write a way you can help protect our environment. It can be as simple as picking up trash or dreaming big like designing a robot that can absorb carbon dioxide! Click here to register. \nProgram Details: \n\nWax Paper Watershed – An activity that demonstrates what a watershed is and how pollution can travel through our waterways\nCabbage Chemistry – Explore what the pH scale is using common household items\nWater Quality Testing – Folks will test for nitrates\, phosphates\, pH\, dissolved oxygen\, and how clear the Cedar River water is\nSalmon Dissection – Learn about salmon anatomy and explore the insides of a real salmon\nGyotaku & Macroinvertebrates Investigation – These two will be done at the same time:\nGyotaku: Folks will paint the salmon and press fabric onto it\, leaving an intricate fish print\nMacroinvertebrates Investigation: Folks will get a chance to search for the presence/absence of bugs in the water to determine the water quality health
